DoCoMo suspends handset sales

Looks like the exploding battery gremlin has jumped ship from Sony to DoCoMo. NTT DoCoMo, along with 8 of its regional subsidiaries and Mitsubishi Electric Corp. have announced that a batch of D06 series batteries which were manufactured through May this year could potentially catch flames or explode when subjected to a strong external impact. This defect is most probably due to deformed electrode plates that were installed in the batteries. Owners of D902iS and D903i cellphones are advised to check whether their batteries are affected. In addition, D902i, D902iS and D903i handset sales have been suspended for the time being.
